This "Oregon myrtlewood hat," handturned by John Scheideman of Madras, and other fine wood hats and vases are currently on display at Art Adventure Gallery in Madras. Scheideman is a member of the American Association of Woodturners, and teaches woodworking and drafting at Madras High School.
   

While making custom wood furniture, he didn't want to waste the scraps of beautiful wood, so he started gluing them together and turning out small vases.
